Restaurant Hungry eye

A dedicated restaurant of hotel Landmark in Pokhara, “Hungry Eyes” at Ground Floor offers view of Fewa/Phewa Lake and street view.

We had dinner at “Hungry eyes” Restaurant.

Ambience

It was a jazzy restaurant with big spherical dim lights and wooden furniture all over and wooden floor. There were tourists from all over the world. Restaurant was quiet a busy one. It specializes in Indian cuisine and also serves Nepali, Chinese, Italian and continental food.

Beautiful dance

Coincidentally, we dined there on Vijaya Dashmi when most of the staff of Nepal had gone on leave. But, I must say, this restaurant had no dirth of resources or the staff was smart enough to deal in crisis of resource crunch. Staff was very courteous and prompt to our needs. Even though they were serving 5 different cuisines to people from all walks of life, I could hear no complaints at all.

Being Vijaya Dashmi, a special music and traditional dance show was organized in the restaurant. It was quiet interesting to see Nepali dance. I was trying to find similarities in Indian and Nepali dance forms and attire.

Food

We had ordered Paneer Pasanda and mixed vegetable with Special Dal fry and paranthas. Paneer Pasanda was delcious and tasted much like Paneer Pasanda of North Indian restaurants. It had gravy of onion, tomatoes, ginger and garlic and bug chunks of Paneer/cheese and special Nepali spices. Mixed vegetable was not thick gravy. It had thin gravy instead which was way different than expected but it tasted well. Kids relished Paneer Pasanda of all. Dal fry was much like Dal Makhani.

Indian breads were specially delicious. But they took time to prepare the same which is quiet understandable. The most noticeable part of the meal was Nepali spices and flavour in it. Nepali thali also looked mouth-watering , but we did not order it , since we had already had to our heart’s content.

Overall it was a pleasant experience and we enjoyed a lot. The traditional music, singers and dancers made the evening enjoyable and added a whole new dimension to the evening.
