  1. Periyar National Park

One of the important tourist destination in Idukki and Pathanamthitta district. A very important tiger and elephant reserve. It is located in Cardamom and Pandalam hills. Other animals are wild boar, viper, wild pig, Nilgiri Tahr etc

How to reach Thekkady

By bus

Most inexpensive way to reach Thekkadi is by bus from cities like Kochi, Trivandrum and Kottayam. Private and government buses ply from there. Kerala state transport corporation buses run at regular intervals from these cities for Thekkady

By train

Nearest railway station is at Kottayam approximately 114 km from Thekkady. Mostly trains going to Trivandrum will connect Kottayum. Various trains local, express and superfast trains connect to Kottayum from where one can hire a taxi or bus for Thekkady.

By road

Highway connects Thekkady with many cities like Kochi approximately 165 km, Kottayam approximately 108 km,  Kothamangalam 110 kms, Munnar approximately 90 and Trivandrum approximately  206 kms.

By air
