Karunda Rainforest is the World Heritage Rainforest site. We were supposed to reach there on Skyrail journey one way. We boarded our cable car and straight away it took us on the top of a water body.

The feeling of seeing the forest area and the water body from the sky rail was incredible. I was having butterflies in my stomach as the sky rail was leaving land and moving up in the sky.

My little boy was a bit scared but tried to kind of control his fears.

It was a nice view from the top.

The whole area was lush green and refreshed my senses.

Once we reached Karunda, we took a long walking tour of the Rainforest. There were trees all around. Fight for light was everywhere.

There were spots to rest and a good walk way to experience the forest.

View from up

Once we reached there, it was a fresh breath we took. The area was lush green and we could feel the cool breeze.

Some of the plants go higher up in the sky to get maximum sunlight and pass on the nutrients to their life giving parent plant.

This is the structure of an epiphyte. Epiphytes take residence on the heights of tall trees so as to get maximum sunlight. They provide shelter to insects and animals. They don’t kill host plants instead get their requirements from surroundings depending on leaf litter and water.

Lush greenery all around

I learnt that the Strangler Fig trees grow from up to down instead of down to up. When birds and animals eat figs, they throw it up and the seeds that stick to the upper parts of the plant starts growing from top to bottom till it reaches down.

It was overall a great experience. A highly recommended tour.
