We were eagerly waiting to witness Penguins and Kangaroos in Australia during our visit to the most happening- Nobbies Ocean Discovery Centre in the extreme South West end of Philip Island in Melbourne. I had seen them only in movies or TV shows. Excited to witness the nature’s another creation in the real world, we reached Nobbies Ocean Discovery Centre. At first, we explored the whole campus (which I am going to detail about later in another article) and by the evening, we were all set to see penguins and Kangaroos! It was getting dark. We were told to be silent to enable the creature’s seamless movement in their own home. No lights were allowed.

All of a sudden, a little Kangaroo appeared from no where! I literally witnessed one in my life for the first time. It jumped around and moved under the bridge to go inside other part of jungle.

Some of them were carrying their babies in pouches. One of them was very shy and drifted back to the bushes. It would come out again and again only to go back. Finally when it became more dark, it gathered the courage to cross the under bridge area.

As the time passed, we saw a little penguine making its way to the bushes.

It, being night time, seemed that all penguines were getting back to their hidden homes in bushes. All penguines were with their families and walked very close to each other to ensure they don’t get lost in the crowd. One little penguine got strayed and was not able to find its family. As soon as a group of penguines came, this little one used to start searching for its loved ones in vain. After many hit and trials finally, it was able to find its members. We were all elated to see the whole scene.

Retreating after a whole walking journey from ocean till sweet home!

We could see the whole large colony of penguines coming from the ocean to the land to rest at night. It was a mesmerising scene. I didn’t even want to blink my eyes to ensure I don’t miss on any scene.

It was overall an exhiliriating experience to watch these penguines parade out of the ocean and witness their affection and care of each other. Although Kangaroos were seen alone, I didn’t witness a family of three or four together.
