Cheetal Grand, the midway joint on the Haridwar Rishikesh highway is the major stopover of road explorers. I have been on this highway a lot of times and have always stopped at this place.

This time whiled looking for Cheetal Grand, we learnt that it has shifted. What will we do, the next thought came. Oops! Its right there. Wow! The old Cheetal Grand was no more accessible as per the traffic police there. They told that this restaurant is a new alternative. Old Cheetal Grand used to be a big resort. This was only a restaurant.

Good thing was that there was no need to detour to go to Cheetal Grand. This location was much better, no doubt the earlier location was a big resort and a fantastic spot. It was full of exotic flora and captivating ambiance. New location was also superb, being on the highway with a better restaurant.

It was a refreshing stop over after driving for 2-3 hours from Delhi. We had vegetable pakoras and tea for breakfast. Pakoras were delicious. Moreover, the food is prepared hygienically. The place is neat and clean. Service is fast. This restaurant is a self service restaurant with variety of food including fast food. It defines a perfect highway stopover.

I could see exotic plants in the restaurant. They looked fabulous. This was expected from Cheetal Grand. It brought back to me my fond memories of old Cheetal Grand. There used to be a mini zoo,small pond with lotus flowers, rooms, big parks and what not!

However, this place was easily accessible and was a time saver. After having breakfast,we saw the property

There was a nice sit out. Washrooms were also clean.The view from Grand Cheetal was nice too. Now,it was time to get ahead with second half of journey. All geared up. One should definitely stop over for refreshments.
I saw that there was another Cheetal Grand on the opposite side. So, I was relieved to know that we have a good stop over on the way back as well.
