I am always fascinated by ski. Now that my kids are entering the adventurous or curious age, they want to ski. So, we decided to take them skiing. Little I knew that skiing requires preparation. To seasoned skiers, this statement may look foolish. I just thought to explore about skiing online when I observed that there is a full fledged planning and preparation required for skiing. Below is what I learnt

1. First and foremost, choose a skiing destination that is favourable for beginners. In India, beginners can start from Auli.

2. Try and book for a ski resort so they can help you in every manner for your skiing requirements and can provided you well trained staff.

3. If you are skiing with kids, avoid them ski before 3 years of his/her age and the child must must be potty trained

4. Make your body fit for skiing. I.e., do cardio vascular exercises so that your body can adjust with low oxygen and high balancing while skiing. Since many muscles are used for skiing, it is very important to tune body and muscles for the uphill task for beginners

5. Since you will be doing ski for the first time, you are unsure about your liking towards the sport so better not to invest in the expensive equipment. Try and rent out as much as possible.

6. Practice enhanced alertness and fast adaptation to sudden change in path or route since skiing involves rapid movement and fast action. Practice quick sports such as squash, football, hockey. Do brisk walking and muscle toning exercises.

7. Since you may or may not like the sport after the first trial, you may want to invest as less as possible be it the ski destination.

8. Watch videos and train yourself mentally for skiing.

Please feel free to add in more points if you feel. I will be soon writing more on skiing as I move ahead in this journey. Looking forward to a beginner Ski Holiday. Wishing you the best if you too are a beginner.
